Runaway Teens Investigative Special
Brand Package
KSAZ Phoenix commissioned the FTS Graphics Hub to develop a visual identity for an investigative special concerning missing person cases within the DCS system. To reflect the gravity of the subject matter, the client requested a 'heavy' aesthetic featuring a dark color palette, "simple background," and bold typography. This project represents the unique projects I find most rewarding as a designer.
Process

Branding news specials offers a unique opportunity for creative departure from standard broadcast requirements. For the Runaway Teens special,
I utilized this artistic flexibility to introduce 'grunge' textures and innovative layering. This approach transformed a "simple background" into a compelling visual that complemented the gravity of the story.
After the first round of proxies, the feedback from KSAZ was to move away from the photo background and to make the package "more graphic heavy. Gradients, solid shapes/backgrounds, texture" and "giving some depth."

Although the project had a somber, real-world origin, I really enjoyed working with KSAZ to create this show package.
I learned some new "grunge" techniques and delivered a plethora of cohesive elements to unify the graphic identity while visually supporting the Investigative reporter's project.

About two weeks after the Runaway Teens Investigative Special aired, KSAZ initiated a new project to update their entire Investigative team graphics inspired by the visual landscape created in the Runaway Teens Special.

I was honored that KSAZ requested a full rebrand of their Investigative team based on my previous work. Unlike standalone specials, this project required a versatile design language capable of spanning multiple years and platforms. Working in broadcast, I find professional satisfaction in building visual identities that will survive today's news cycle.
Juneteenth
FTS Editorial Package

Working for the FOX TV Stations Graphics Hub allows my team and I to service 18 O&O stations across the United States. For national events, we often provide packages to the entire group for cohesive coverage.
For Juneteenth 2024, I was chosen to rebrand the holiday package and ID for our stations. I worked with our VP of Creative to design a package suitable for broadcast and digital platforms across all markets.

As a designer who's artistic choices are seen nationwide, I take great care in conducting thorough research for my projects.
Not being part of the African American demographic, I wanted to ensure my design decisions were made with respect, appreciation and forethought.
Through my research,
I decided to use Kente Cloth motifs to serve as the base of my graphics.

Lifestyle Show Rebrand

In August 2022, WSMV4’s Today in Nashville underwent a significant evolution, moving to 2:00 PM and doubling its airtime. During the initial rollout, the show aired with an updated logo that conflicted with existing on-air graphics.
I took the initiative to approach the Creative Services Director with a comprehensive rebranding vision to unify the show's visual identity.
After work-shopping, pitching, and many rounds of revisions, my package was approved for air and became the official Today in Nashville style.

Process
As I neared the end of my college career, I aspired to a career in sport motion graphics, I knew my final project had to revolve around sports. But which one? Why not all of them!
My senior capstone project is a mock broadcast package for the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to global pandemic.
Research & Process

This project quickly evolved into a research reliant and involved process. I wanted to fully encapsulate Japanese culture through the visual elements within the Olympic brand package. Without a theme in mind, I allowed my research of Japan to inform my final design.
Taking advantage of SCAD's extensive library, I indulged in Japanese film, pottery, fine art, textiles, fashion, graphic design, architecture, literature, motion graphics, traditions, animals, topography, and currency to create a concept that was well informed for all audiences that best represented the host nation.

Lyrical Visualization
Process
For this cinematography project, I wanted to illustrate the unique voice of musician, Sierra Ferrell. I wanted to capture my own footage; however, in the time of Covid, I only had access to an iPhone camera.
This visual depiction came to me through mere accident. Years ago, I bought vintage slides from an antique shop and displayed them in my window pane. Due to sun damage, they have turned blue and with my red SUV parked just outside my window, a Savannah sunrise gave me an idea.
Process

Materials:
iPhone
Microscopic phone lens
Red & pink construction paper
Clear plastic containers
Desk lamp
Vintage 35mm slides
Tape

I created a makeshift light-box to capture my footage. I recreated the red reflections from my car by experimenting with red paper, markers, and even a bag of cranberry juice.
